Rio Reforestation XXIII was held on October 18, 2014 at a 21-acre field within the La Casita-West tract of the Lower Rio Grande Valley National Wildlife Refuge. This site is on the second terrace of the immediate flood-plain of the Rio Grande and has a scenic overlook of the river and Mexico. Volunteers planted approximately 13,000 tree and shrub seedlings of about 30 species.
